The Sac County Conservation Center was completed in 2010.  The Center is located in Hagge Park and serves as their main headquarters.  This two level facility is handicapped accessible.  It’s main floor has the majority of exhibits/displays, offices and restrooms. The lower level consists of a library/meeting room, a large classroom, kitchenette, restrooms and two storm shelters.  There are several displays throughout the Conservation Center that show the native flora and fauna of Sac County.

Children's area

Picture
An activity center cabinet provides children with a listening phone for nature sounds, exploration into feely compartments, a dry slate surface for making tracks with various   stamps and a creature feature where children can see a critter up close and personal. There are several games, puzzles, books, furs & stuffed animals to investigate.
The children’s area has an interactive velcro wall depicting the outdoors.  Children can place fabric animals on the wall in their habitat.
Our Life in a Log exhibit allows children to literally crawl thru to explore what may live inside of a decaying log or what has grown outside, similar to the logs that have fallen in the forest.

Classroom

The large classroom hosts our many environmental education programs for schools, civic groups and organizations.  The environmental education programs along with several gatherings are held in the classroom through out the year.  It accommodates 35-50 individuals at a time and is home to several reptile habitats.
