The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Mike
Fischer, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Wissler and seconded by Drake to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all,
motion carried.
Blake Mohr with Colburn and Son Insurance addressed the Board regarding the County's
property and liability renewal for fiscal year 24/25. Mr. Mohr indicated that there would be a 10%
automatic increase on buildings and major equipment and possibly a 2% deductible on any
catastrophic wind or hail event. No action was taken.
At 10:30 the Board took up the canvass of the June 4 Primary election and offer the following
results on the Democrat Ballot; U.S. Representative; Ryan Melton- 50*, State Senator, District 4 - no
candidate; State Senator, District 7 - no candidate; County Board of Supervisors, District 1 - no
candidate; County Auditor- no candidate; County Sheriff- no candidate. Results on the
Republican ballot; U.S. Representative District 4; Randy Feen~tra - 343, Kevin Virgil- 361 *; State
Senator, District 4; Tim Kraayenbrink - 576*; State Representative, District 7; Wendy Lou
Larson519*, Mike Sexton - 180; County Board of Supervisors, District 1; Ranell Drake - 266*;
County Auditor; James W. Dowling- 622*; County Sheriff; Kenneth W. McClure - 607*; Results on
the Libertarian ballot; there were no candidates listed on the libertarian ballot. There were no
provisional ballots to be considered.
It was moved by Wissler and seconded by Drake to approve and certify the canvass of the
2024 Primary election. Ayes all, motion carried.
Sheriff Ken McClure and Chief Deputy Katy Stang came to the Board meeting and requested
a closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5.j. It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wissler to
go into closed session at 10:45 am. Ayes Drake, Wissler, and Fischer; nays none, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wissler to go out of closed session at 11 :02. Ayes
all, motion carried.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the
status of current maintenance and construction projects.
It was moved by Wissler and seconded by Drake to approve the notice to bidders and plans
for Patching Project #LFM-PCCP25-7X-81. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wissler and seconded by Drake to adopt Resolution 2024-0611 authorizing
the transfer of $460,883.00 from Rural Basic fund to Secondary Road fund and $40,512.50 from
General Basic fund to Secondary Road fund. Ayes Wissler, Drake, and Fischer; nays none, motion
carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wissler to approve the claims as listed on the
claims register in the Auditor's office. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wissler and seconded by Drake to approve a contract between Sac County
and the Boards of Trustees of the public libraries in Auburn, Early, Lake View, Lytton, Odebolt, Sac
City, Schaller, and Wall Lake for financial support for fiscal year 24/25. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wissler to approve an application for approval of
construction across established Sac County drainage districts and established multi-county
drainage districts submitted by Corn Belt Telephone Company of Wall Lake, Iowa. Ayes all, motion
carried. A list of drainage districts affected by the construction is on file in the Auditor's office.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
