The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Ranell Drake, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Wissler to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all, motion carried
.
It was moved by Wissler and seconded by Fischer to accept a letter of resignation submitted by Scot McDonough, Director of Sac County Emergency Medical Services, effective July 25, 2025. Ayes all, motion carried. The Board Thanked McDonough for his 31 years of service the department.
It was moved by Wisler and seconded by Fischer to approve some additional work on a work order on DD 27, which was submitted on April 15, 2025. Ayes all, motion carried. The original estimate was $14,000 and the additional work moved the total to $24,384. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Wissler to accept a petition for repairs on DD 89 and direct the Drainage Department to investigate the situation and submit a report. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Wissler to approve a proposed tile repair on Drainage District no. 80 located in Section 36, Coon Valley Township, in the amount of $800.00. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wissler and seconded by Fischer to approve a proposed tile repair on Drainage District no. 30 located in Section 1, Coon Valley Township, in the amount of $1,250.00. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Wissler to approve an application for a building permit in the urban transition zone submitted by Brian Tatman located at 2361 Rolfe Ave, Sac City. Ayes all, motion carried.
Sheriff Ken McClure presented awards to Sergeant Jonathon Meyer, Sergeant Tyler Prescott and Deputy Francisco Cruz for their participation in an active shooter situation in Storm Lake on January 26 & 27 of 2025. The Sheriff read a letter of appreciation from the Storm Lake Chief of Police.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Wissler to approve a $150,000 amendment to the current Iowa D.O.T. budget for engineering on a bridge. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Wissler to approve a 2.5% wage increase for secondary roads personnel and a merit increase of $4,000 for Mike Friedman, road superintendent. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wissler and seconded by Fischer to approve claims as listed on the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.
At the request of the County Attorney, it was moved by Fischer and seconded by Wissler to go into closed session pursuant to Iowa Code Section 21.5(1), (c) and (j). Ayes Wissler, Fischer and Drake; nays none, motion carried. Time 10:35 am
Those in attendance included the County Attorney, County Engineer, Supervisors Wissler, Fischer and Drake and County Auditor Jim Dowling.
It was moved by Wissler and seconded by Fischer to come out of closed session at 10:58. Ayes all, motion carried.
