Voting locations have changed for some voters, due to a combination of some polling places because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Extended Office Hours for Election Purposes
In addition to the normal business hours of 8:00am until 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, the Sac County Auditor’s Office will offer extended hours on Friday, August 28 and Friday, September 4 from 8:00am-5:00pm.

Voter registration forms, absentee ballot application forms and information regarding documents acceptable to prove identification and residency are available from the Sac County Auditor’s Office or the Auditor’s page of the Sac County website at www.saccounty.org.
Voter Accessibility
All polling places are fully accessible to persons with physical disabilities. Each site also has a voter assist ballot marking device. Any voter who requires assistance to vote by reason of blindness, disability, or inability to read or write may be given assistance by a person of the voter’s choice, other than the voter’s employer or agent of that employer or officer or agent of the voter’s union.
Any voter who is physically unable to enter the polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle.
Each polling location is equipped with a ballot marking device which may assist persons with disabilities to vote more independently. The device allows voters to make their selections using an audio read-back and touchpad, or touchscreen. The touchscreen device provides magnification and reverse black and white images. Voters unable to see the screen may have the screen turned off and use only the audio read-back and touchpad features. The audio read-back feature provides all ballot instructions, choices, and selections in an audio format using headphones.
After making selections with the ballot marking device, via touch pad or touch screen, the device will mark the voter’s paper ballot and the voter will insert their marked ballot in the ballot scanner used to count all ballots. The Commissioner of Elections certifies that on Election Day all polling locations are accessible by means of permanent or temporary measures.
Voter Registration Information
Pre-registration for this election closes at 5:00pm on Friday, August 28, 2020. Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote in Sac County after August 28, 2020 will be REQUIRED to provide proof of identification (i.e. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date) AND proof of residency in the voting precinct when they go to the polls on Election Day or when they request an absentee ballot. Other requirements may apply. Voters who have moved in Sac County and have not updated their voter registration record with their new address may be required to provide proof of residency at the polls on Election Day.
Absentee/Early Voting Information
Voters may cast an absentee ballot in the Sac County Auditor’s Office at the Courthouse during office hours until Friday, September 4, 2020, at 5:00pm. For voter convenience, the Auditor’s Office will be open until 5:00pm on Friday, August 28 and Friday, September 4.
Friday, August 28, 2020, is the last day absentee ballots can be MAILED to voters. Absentee ballots cannot be mailed to persons who have not registered to vote. Unregistered voters may submit a completed voter registration form with their absentee ballot application if the completed forms will be received in the Auditor’s Office by Friday, August 28, 2020. Persons registering to vote after this date shall not be mailed an absentee ballot, but may vote in person at the Sac County Auditor’s Office until 5:00pm on Friday, September 4, upon providing proof of identity and residency.

Election Day Registration
A person, who is eligible to register to vote and vote, may register on Election Day by appearing in person at the designated polling place. The voter must complete a voter registration application, make written oath and provide acceptable proof of identity and acceptable proof of residence. Acceptable documents which can be used as proof of identity and proof of residence are very specific and substitutes will not be accepted. ELECTION FRAUD
A voter commits the crime of Election Misconduct in the First Degree if the person submits false information when registering to vote. Election misconduct in the first degree is a class “D” felony, and punishable by a fine of up to $7,500 and/or imprisonment of up to five (5) years. Convicted felons who register and vote without receiving a restoration of voting rights from the Governor are committing a class “D” felony. IF YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE HAS ALREADY BEEN RESTORED, REQUEST A PROVISIONAL BALLOT.
PROVISIONAL BALLOTS
Voters who are unable to provide proof of ID/residence on Election Day and vote a provisional ballot must come to the courthouse to provide evidence for accepting the provisional ballot before Tuesday, September 15, 2020.
PUBLIC TESTING OF EQUIPMENT
The Sac County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections shall publicly examine and test all voting machines to be used for the September 8, 2020 Special Election. Public testing will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at 10:0am in the Law Enforcement Center of the Sac County Courthouse. This certification, testing the voting machines for said election, is open to the public.
ELECTION RESULTS
Election night results will be posted on the Sac County Website at www.saccounty.org, as they are available. Results are not official until the final canvass is conducted.
