The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jim Wissler, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all, motion carried.
Sheriff Ken McClure, E911 Coordinator Bobbie Wells and the Board of Supervisors met via telephone conference with Ray Freeman, a private consultant, to discuss progress on the County’s communication system upgrade. Mr. Freeman recommended a system upgrade through Motorola at a cost of $266,696.00 for a two-position console. Mr. Freeman also suggested that now would be the time to purchase ten dual band mobile radios for patrol cars and nine dual band portable radios. Installation/programming, electrical grounding, cable routing trays and upgrades to the courthouse alarm system would be included in the package for a total of $376,546.50. Sac County E911 agreed to pay for half of the console cost, reducing the total cost to the County General fund to $243,198.50. a $50,000 discount from Motorola is included in the price of the console if purchased before September 15, 2020.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to call for a public hearing on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at 10:30 am to hear public input on the project. Ayes all, motion carried.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to accept the low bid of $221,766.85 submitted by Ten Point Construction Company for Project L-PCCP 21—73-81, pavement patching on various roads in Sac County. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to adopt Resolution #20-0811, authorizing Nick Buse, Sac County Engineer, the authority to the certification of completion of work and final acceptance thereof for all Farm to Market and Federal or State aid construction projects in this county. Ayes; Drake, Wilhelm and Wissler; nays none, motion carried.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to approve renewal of a liquor license issued to Midnight Sun in rural Schaller, Iowa. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to approve a proposed beaver dam investigation and removal in section 16, Coon Valley Township, serving as a common outlet for drainage districts 6, 15 and 25 for a total cost of $500.00. Ayes all, motion carried.
The County Auditor informed the Board of a purchase of a drop box which was installed near the southeast door of the courthouse. the drop box will be used for any county business including absentee ballots, taxes and any other official documents intended for county business.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
