Sheriff Ken McClure presented a discussion on upgrading the County’s communication system with the State of Iowa’s interoperability system which allows all emergency agencies to communicate with each other.  Sheriff McClure cited Carroll, Calhoun and Ida Counties in the various stages of upgrading their equipment and funding options.  It was noted that the current State Law Enforcement Agency radio system will be discontinued in October of 2020.
The Board directed the Sheriff to contact a consultant to offer some ideas on costs of the new system, review of current towers and funding options for the project.  No action was taken.
