The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with two members preset, Jim
Wissler was absent. Mike Fischer, Chairman, presided. The minutes of the last meeting were approved
as submitted.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all,
motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve an adjustment in the Sheriff's budget
for an IPERS correction. Ayes all, motion carried. The adjustment will be considered in a budget
amendment at a future date.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the claims as listed on the claims
register in the Auditor's office. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the appointment of Rich Malcom as
Cook Township Clerk to replace Les Siebrecht who resigned. Ayes all, motion carried. The Board wished
to express their thanks and appreciation to Mr. Siebrecht for his many years of service to Cook Township.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to proceed with three public hearings to be held
on May 7, 14, and 21, 2024, to consider a resolution establishing Sac County Emergency Medical Services
as an essential service in Sac County pursuant to Iowa Code Section 4220. Ayes all, motion carried. The
procedure determined by the Board of Supervisors and the County Attorney will be similar to the
procedure used in Pocahontas County. The Board directed the Auditor's office to cause notice of the
public hearings to be published the week of February 26, 2024. Upon approval at the public hearings,
the question of whether to declare the Sac County Emergency Medical services as an essential service
will appear on the November General Election ballot as a public measure.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to table action on the Sac County Ambulance
union contract until Tuesday, February 27. 2024. Ayes all, motion carried.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
