The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Ranell Drake, temporary Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to amend the agenda to consider the Sheriff’s quarterly report. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the agenda as amended. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Drake to appoint Rick Hecht as chairman of the Sac County Board of Supervisors for 2018. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Stock to designate the Chronicle and The Sac Sun as official Sac County newspapers for 2018. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Drake to adopt Construction Evaluation Resolution, #18-0102, relating to the construction of an animal confinement feeding operation using the Master Matrix created by Iowa Code Section 459.305 pursuant to Iowa Code 459.304(3). Ayes Drake, Hecht and Stock; nays none, motion carried.
The Chairman made the following committee appointments for 2018: Supervisor Stock will serve on ICAP Board, DD 181 interim committee, Landfill Board, County Conservation, Highway 20, alternate to 2nd Judicial District, Mental Health Advisory Board, SETD and Hometown Pride; Supervisor Drake will serve on Region XII Council of Governments, Youth Emergency Services, DECAT, ISTEA, Community Empowerment, Workforce Development, Hazmat, EMA, and E911; Supervisor Hecht will serve on DHS, Ambulance, REAP, ISTEA, New Opportunities, Second Judicial District, Public Health and Rolling Hills Regional Mental Health.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Stock to close the Courthouse to observe the following holidays: January 15 – Martin Luther King Day, February 19 – President’s Day, April 30 – close at noon for the Friday before Easter, May 28 – Memorial Day, July 4 – Independence Day, September 3 – Labor Day, November 12 – Veteran’s Day, November 22 & 23 – Thanksgiving weekend, December 24 – Christmas Eve, December 25 – Christmas Day and January 1, 2019, New Year’s Day. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Drake to approve the Sheriff’s quarterly report for the quarter ending December 31, 2017. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Stock to approve the claims as listed on the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.
Sherrie Wilson, Sac County Planning and Zoning Officer, presented the Master Matrix scoring for the Sandy Hills Sow Farm located in Section two of Eden Township with a total score of 490 points.
After several minutes of open discussion, most of which supported the project, it was moved by Drake and seconded by Stock to recommend approval of the permit application. Ayes all, motion carried.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
