The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Rick Hecht, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Drake to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all, motion carried.
During the citizen input session of the board meeting, the Board joined a telephone conference call with representatives of Invenergy and Aliant Energy where they heard of Aliant Energy joining the proposed wind turbine project in Sac County with plans to start construction sometime in the first half of 2019. Representatives from Aliant Energy will schedule meetings with the Sac County Board to keep them up to date on activities.
John Torbert, Executive Director of the Iowa Drainage District Association, made his annual visit to Sac County with an update on activities of that agency and future legislative priorities. The Board expressed disappointment in IDDA’s participation in the Des Moines Water Work’s lawsuit. Supervisor Stock stated that he would vote to withdraw from IDDA membership until such time as that agency retained a different law firm and hired a new executive director.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Stock to re-appoint Frank Strain of Sac City to the Region XII Regional Housing Authority Board of Directors for the period beginning October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Stock to approve the claims as listed on the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Drake to approve the drainage claims as submitted. Ayes all, motion carried.
At 11:00 AM, the Sac County Board of Supervisors joined the Calhoun County Board on a telephone conference as trustee for joint drainage district 20-119. It was moved by Jacobs of Calhoun and Seconded by Drake of Sac that Rick Hecht serve as chairman for the meeting and Jim Dowling serve as secretary. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Cooper of Calhoun and seconded by Stock of Sac to accept a petition for cleanout of the open ditch in branch B of Jt DD 20-119 located in Section 5, Garfield Twp, Calhoun County, direct the drainage watchman to proceed with the investigation and prepare the appropriate reports and name Colin McCullough of McCullough Law Firm as drainage attorney for this project. Ayes all, motion carried. The joint meeting was then adjourned.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
