The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with two members present, Jim Wissler was absent. Brent Wilhelm served as temporary chairman. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to approve the Sheriff’s quarterly report for the quarter ending June 30, 2020. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded b Wilhelm to approved the Recorder’s quarterly report for the quarter ending June 30, 2020. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to re-appoint Frank Strain to the Region XII Regional Housing Authority Board of Directors for a one-year term. Ayes all, motion carried.
The Board discussed some Covid 19 guidelines for Sac County employees for practicing good hygiene principles and what to do should an employee become infected.
The County Engineer update the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
Brian Blomme, Sac, Calhoun and Buena Vista Counties’ drainage engineer, presented discussion regarding the North Raccoon River Watershed Management Coalition. After a brief history, Mr. Blomme explained a Federal HUD grant of $97million targeted for distribution among 9 different watershed districts in the State of Iowa to control flooding. The Coalition talked of building up to 77 dams on the North Raccoon River to control flooding in the Des Moines Metro area. It was projected that the 77 dams would reduce the flooding by 2%. The next meeting of the coalition is scheduled for July 24.
