The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jim Wissler, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was noted that due to Independence Day falling on Tuesday, July 4, there would be no Board meeting the week of July 3, 2023.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all, motion carried.
Blake Mohr with Colburn & Son, Insurance, presented the renewal for Sac County’s 23/24 general liability and property coverage, which included an average 14% increase in the various pieces of business. It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to increase the liability coverage from $5 million to $10 million for an additional $7,580.00 and approve the renewal for 23/24. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to appropriate the funds for the 23/24 County budget as approved at the budget hearing on April 25, 2023. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to designate $63,742.11 as reserve fund balance in t he general fund for a vehicle for the Sheriff’s department which was ordered in the FYE June 30, 2023 which has not been delivered at the end of the fiscal year. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve claims as listed in the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to re-appoint John Scott from rural Lake View to the Lake View Public Library Board. Ayes all, motion carried. The Board thanked Mr. Scott for his service.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to move $495,578 from Debt Service to County General fund for the annual payment for the communications project. Ayes all, motion carried.
Marc MacWorter from Sac City Chamber Main Street, asked for and received permission to place several bouncey houses on the courthouse lawn for the Independence Day celebration on Friday, July 1, 2023.
The Board and the County Attorney discussed developing an ordinance addressing nuisance properties and junk vehicles. No action was taken.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and t he status of current maintenance and construction projects.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to accept the low bid of $163,770.55 submitted by Peterson Contractors, Inc. for box culvert project BROS – CO81(91)—8J-81 and authorize the County Engineer to the contract and other documents on Doc Express. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to accept the low bid of $54,398.00 submitted by Blacktop Services Company to resurface an asphalt pad at the salt shed in Sac City and pave an additional area to increase the overall size of the pad, Ayes all, motion carried.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
