The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jim Wissler, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all, motion carried.
The Board met with department heads to discuss options to control the pedestrian traffic in the courthouse and annex in response to the coronavirus situation. There were several questions regarding sick leave, working from home and employees with compromised health conditions.
After approximately 60 minutes of discussion, it was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to close the Sac County Courthouse and Annex until March 31, cancel the regular board meeting for March 24, and reconvene on Tuesday, March 31, in the Courtroom. Ayes all, motion carried.
The Chairman opened the second public hearing on the proposed budget for 20/21 for comment and discussion. There were three people from the general public in attendance with questions about fund balances and certain expenditures.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to close the public hearing. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to approve Resolution 20-0313 which called for a reduction in the recommendations of the county compensation board by 70% and freezing the salaries of the Supervisors at the current level. Ayes Drake, Wilhelm and Wissler; nays none, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to approve Resolution 20-0317 establishing the maximum property tax dollars for fiscal year 2020/21 in General County Services at $4,266,548 and in Rural County Services at$2,145,000. Ayes Drake, Wilhelm and Wissler; nays none, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to adopt the proposed county budget for 20/21 with some reductions in fund balances. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to approve and adopt Chapter 10 of the Code of Ordinances regulating tanning bed inspections. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to rescind the motion to abate the taxes on parcel #810723101100 that was approved at the board meeting on February 25, 2020. Ayes all, motion carried.
The County Engineer updated the Board on the activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to approve a bill submitted by ISG Engineering for a tile improvement investigation on Joint DD 59 Sac and 7 Calhoun in the amount of $561.59. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to approve the drainage claims as submitted. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to approve the claims as listed on the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.
