The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jim Wissler, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to amend the agenda to consider renewal of a liquor license. Ayes all, motion carried.
During Citizen input, Jim Meyer from Odebolt, asked that more detail on activities of secondary road crews and projects be included in the board meetings.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the agenda as amended. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve application for a liquor license submitted by Back Pocket Brewing Co. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve renewal of liquor license issued to Cielito Lindo Restaurant in Lake View. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve a proposed tile repair in Joint DD 88 Sac and 280 Calhoun located in Section 24, Sac Township, Sac County in the amount of $11,500.00. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve an application submitted by Corn Belt Telephone Company to bury cable in drainage districts 84, 92,27, 181, Jt DD 2 & 51, 454 sub 1, 86 and 12. Ayes all, motion carried.
At 10:30, the Chairman opened the public hearing to consider the 2023/24 Sac County budget. There was one individual present to ask questions about the proposed budget and fund balances. There was some discussion about the compensation board.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to close the public hearing at 10:55. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to adopt Resolution 23-0425 reducing by 20%, the Compensation Board’s recommendation for elected officials and 50% for supervisors. Ayes Drake, Fischer and Wissler; nays none, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to adopt the Sac County budget for 2023/24 as presented. Ayes all, motion carried.
Sheriff Ken McClure introduced John Hansen with Midwest Construction Consultants and Rick A. Weidner, Architect to continue discussions regarding a new jail.
It was moved b Drake and seconded by Fischer to sign a contract with Midwest Construction Consultants to do a needs assessment study for $9,000.00. Ayes all, motion carried. This is the same contract the Board signed two weeks ago, only to define the purpose of the contract.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to sign a contract with Rick Weidner, AIA, for phase one in the amount of $11,000 to prepare preliminary floor plans, site plans, and building elevations for use in obtaining money. Ayes all, motion carried.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve an 8.5% wage increase for the secondary road employees with the exception of the office manager whose increase is 12%. Ayes all, motion carried.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
