The SacCounty Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present. Jim
Wissler, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all,
motion carried.
The County Auditor advised the Board that there is a tree in monument square which has some
dead or dying branches and signs of rot in the base. The tree will have to be removed and another tree
will be planted in its place.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve a claim for services on Joint
Drainage District 59 - Calhoun and 7 - Sac in the amount of $5,100.00. ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve a proposed tile repair in DD 69,
located in Section 30, Douglas Township in the amount of $700.00. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve two proposed tile repairs in DD 25,
located in Section 16, Coon Valley Township in the amount of $700.00. Ayes all, motion carried.
The County Engineer updated the board on activities of the county road crews and the status of
current maintenance and construction projects.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to adopt Resolution #23-0808, authorizing the
County Engineer to close County Road M35 from 360th Street to 400th Street to vehicles in excess of five
(5) tons per axle for the period of time deemed expedient (not to exceed 90 days) by erecting signs in
accordance with Section 321.472, Iowa Code, and further allow the Engineer to grant permits of
exemption upon showing that there is a need to move to market farm produce in the type subject to
rapid spoilage of loss of value or to move farm feeds or fuel for home heating. Ayes Drake, Fischer and
Wissler; nays none, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve the renewal of a Substance Abuse
Prevention Services agreement between Sac County and New Opportunities, Inc. to utilize the county
substance abuse prevention grant services funds proposed to be $2,440 with a 3 to 1 match from Sac
County of $7,320.00. Ayes all, motion carried. The renewal is for FY 2024.
Lynn Cleveland from Lake View addressed the Board concerning a question of ownership on a
150' x 310' parcel of land located at the head of the Sauk Rail Trail. It was Mr. Cleveland's contention
that he owned the property and the trail was built on it without his consent. The Board suggested that
he seek legal advice. No action was taken.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
