The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jim Wissler, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to amend the agenda to continue discussion on the Nemaha museum. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to approve the agenda as amended. Ayes all, motion carried.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to adopt Resolution #20-1020 authorizing Supervisor Drake, on behalf of Sac County, to sign the contract on Doc Express for the Sac County bridge replacement project #BROS-SWAP-CO81 (73)—SE-81. Ayes Drake, Wilhelm and Wissler; nays none, motion carried.
The Sac County Sheriff met with the Board and asked to go into closed session.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to go into closes session at 10:09 AM, pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5 par.1 g & h, to avoid disclosure of specific law enforcement matters. Ayes Drake, Wilhelm and Wissler; nays none, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to go out of closed session at 10:40 am. Ayes all, motion carried.
Scot McDonough, Sac County Ambulance director advised the Board that Kirk Langner of Schaller had accepted an offer of employment with the Sac County Ambulance Service and it was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to approve hiring Mr. Langner. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to approve a $5000.00 contribution in FYE June, 2020 and FYE June, 2021 to the Nemaha museum building project. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to approve a letter of engagement for David Jennett as interim county attorney while Ben Smith is being deployed. Ayes all, motion carried.
Toina Vickers was present to request assignment of certain delinquent tax properties in Sac County. The Board took no action but will consider the request on October 27,2020, at 11:00.
The Board reviewed a proposed agreement between Buena Vista, Calhoun, Sac and Pocahontas Counties for drainage engineering services on Joint Drainage District 181. No action was taken.
It was moved by Wilhelm and seconded by Drake to call for a public hearing on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 11:00 AM to consider an ordinance authorizing Sac County and the Cities within Sac County to bid on and purchase delinquent tax properties at the annual county tax sale and an ordinance authorizing the County Treasurer to separately offer and sell at the annual tax sale certain properties. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Wilhelm to approve the claims as listed on the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
