The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jim
Wissler, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all,
motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the Sheriff's quarterly report for the
quarter ending September 30, 2023. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve the claims as listed on the claims
register in the Auditor's office. Ayes all, motion carried.
Chairman Wissler administered the Oath of Office to Joel Suggitt as deputy sheriff for Sac
County.
County Attorney Ben Smith met with the Board to discuss a potential health hazard in the attic of
the Courthouse, including lead paint chipping from the walls and ceilings and bat droppings. The Auditor
was directed to contact a professional cleaning company to evaluate the areas in question, including the
areas between the original ceilings and the suspended ceilings in the magistrate court area.
The County Attorney introduced James Heiliger as the assistant county attorney for Sac and
Calhoun Counties to handle the magistrate court and juvenile court. Chairman Wissler administered the
Oath of Office to Mr. Heiliger. It was noted that there would be no change to the current budget for the
County Attorney's office.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of
current maintenance and construction projects, Gard Avenue between Highway 20 and 230th Street will
be closed for two weeks for box culvert replacement, county-wide patching will begin the first week of
October and bridge repair on 260th Street between Karr and Jackson will begin this week. the road will
be closed during construction for approximately two weeks.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
