NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED
CODE OF ORDINANCES
SAC COUNTY, IOWA
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Sac County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing pursuant to Iowa Code § 331.302(10) on a proposed Code of Ordinances of Sac County, Iowa. The proposed Code of Ordinances would, upon adoption, repeal in their entirety the existing ordinances of Sac County and replace them with a new, comprehensive Code of Ordinances containing all county ordinances to be in effect.
PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED CODE OF ORDINANCES:
Date: Tuesday, May 12, 2026
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, Second Floor, Sac County Courthouse, 100 NW State Street, Sac City, Iowa 50583
At the public hearing, all interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard for or against the proposed Code of Ordinances, or any portion thereof. Written comments may also be submitted to the Sac County Auditor at or before the time of the hearing.
SUBSEQUENT MEETINGS – READINGS AND CONSIDERATION OF ADOPTING ORDINANCE:
Following the public hearing, the Board of Supervisors will consider the ordinance adopting the proposed Code of Ordinances at three subsequent meetings, in accordance with the reading requirements of Iowa Code § 331.302(6):
First Reading and Consideration: Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
Second Reading and Consideration: Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
Third Reading and Possible Final Passage: Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
All meetings will be held in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, Second Floor, Sac County Courthouse, 100 NW State Street, Sac City, Iowa 50583. Final passage of the adopting ordinance is anticipated at the June 2, 2026 meeting, subject to the requirements of Iowa Code § 331.302.
AVAILABILITY OF PROPOSED CODE OF ORDINANCES:
Copies of the complete proposed Code of Ordinances are on file and available for public inspection and distribution at the Office of the Sac County Auditor, Sac County Courthouse, 100 NW State Street, Sac City, Iowa 50583, during normal business hours. Copies may also be obtained from the Auditor’s Office upon request. In addition, copies of the proposed Code of Ordinances are available online on the Sac County website at https://www.saccountyiowa.gov/supervisors/
SUBJECT MATTER:
The proposed Code of Ordinances addresses the general subject matter of all ordinances of Sac County currently in effect, and supersedes and specifically repeals all prior ordinances of Sac County as identified in the adopting ordinance. The proposed Code of Ordinances is being adopted under the authority of Iowa Code Chapter 331, including § 331.302(10).
