The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Chairman Wissler, presiding, and the following members present: Drake and Fischer; and with Deputy Auditor Kristen Wirtjers as clerk for the meeting. Absent: None.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting held on July 21, 2026, as presented. Ayes all. Motion carried.
Wissler made a motion to amend the agenda as presented to add a discussion regarding the HR position. It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the agenda as amended. Ayes all. Motion carried.
There were no comments or concerns presented during Citizens Input.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the claims as presented in the amount of $509,923.74. Ayes all. Motion carried.
There was discussion regarding additional funding for EBS. The estimated amount needed for the fiscal year is approximately $44,000. There will be 2 claims to make this payment approximately $22,000 roughly 6 months apart. It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve this additional funding. Ayes all. Motion carried.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
There was some discussion regarding the Human Resources position for Sac County. Ben Smith asked Kristi Johnson from Calhoun County to speak and give the Board an overview of her position. The Board set up a Work Session for Tuesday August 4th at 9:00 am for further discussion with Ben Smith, the Board of Supervisors and the Auditor’s Office. There was no action taken.
At the request of the County Attorney, it was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to go into closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(c). Ayes all. Motion carried. Time 10:57 AM.
There being no further business, on motion by Drake and seconded by Fischer, the meeting was adjourned.
