The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Chairman Wissler, presiding, and Supervisors Drake and Fischer present; and with Auditor Renee Roland as clerk for the meeting.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the minutes of the work session held on August 25, 2026. Ayes all. Motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve the minutes of the last regular board meeting held on August 25, 2026, as presented. Ayes all. Motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve the agenda as presented. Ayes all. Motion carried.
There were no comments or concerns presented during Citizens Input.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve the claims as presented in the amount of $211,939.32. Ayes all. Motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve insurance claims in the amount of $124,283.84. Ayes all. Motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to approve final plans for Secondary Roads plan BROS-CO81(98)—8J-81. Ayes all. Motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve Project Funding Agreement - BROS-CO81(98)—8J-81. Ayes all. Motion carried.
Nick Buse, County Engineer, updated the board as to current repair and maintenance projects such as asphalt projects that continue around the county and N28 that is partially closed for approximately 2 weeks for railroad repairs.
Ben Ringgenberg, EMS Director, discussed with the Board items such as vacation payout options, security concerns at the ambulance station and paramedic training. There was no action taken and discussion will continue following review of portions of the handbook and Ben Ringgenberg obtaining quotes on building security systems.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to increase the county mileage rate to $0.69/mile, which correlates to 90% of the Federal rate as last updated and being effective September 1, 2026. Ayes all. Motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve the Iowa DNR Agreement ID 26ESDWQBDWATT0001, Intergovernmental (28E) Agreement Between the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Sac County, Iowa. Ayes all. Motion carried.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to adopt Resolution #2026-0901, A Resolution by Sac County to Approve Renewal of an Intergovernmental (28E) Agreement Between the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Sac County, Iowa, Delegating to Sac County the Authority to Issue Permits for the Construction, Reconstruction, and Abandonment for Private Water Wells. Roll call vote: Drake – aye, Fischer – aye, Wissler – aye. Motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to approve the Amended FY2024 Audit to add single audit requirement reporting. Ayes all. Motion carried.
There was discussion regarding maintenance of the pioneer cemetery 2 miles East of Schaller. The County Auditor will check a few options and report back. There was no action taken.
It was moved by Drake and seconded by Fischer to increase the Drainage Engineer hourly rate to $150/hour. Ayes all. Motion carried.
It was moved by Fischer and seconded by Drake to adopt a schedule of approval and payment of drainage claims to be the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. Ayes all. Motion carried.
