Roadside Program

Sac County is responsible for nearly 1000 miles of county roads, which correspond to roughly 6000 acres of right of way that need to be maintained. Our right-of-ways provide the county with a network of roadsides that help to facilitate the removal of surface water from adjacent fields, as well as the surface of the road. In the wintertime, the right-of-ways provide a space to catch snow before it reaches the road surface. For these right-of-ways to work as intended, we try to incorporate the right management techniques to create the positive impacts that we desire.
